Empowering Women through Education: A Redseer Initiative

The Redseer Foundation, in collaboration with SAMARTHANAM Trust, launched an educational empowerment program to support visually impaired girls. This case study explores the transformative journey of the Higher Education Program (HEP), designed to tackle underrepresentation and accessibility challenges in higher education.

The Higher Education Program (HEP)

  • Statement of Need: The program addresses the significant underrepresentation of disabled students in higher education, with a detailed analysis of the enrollment gap in prestigious institutions.
  • Organization Response: Samarthanam Trust’s proactive approach includes offering scholarships and support for differently-abled and underprivileged girls, ensuring their education is not hindered by physical or socio-economic challenges.

  • Scope and Reach: The program has formed partnerships with colleges in Bangalore, supporting 175 girls and aiming to sensitize the educational ecosystem towards inclusivity.

Sharon's Ascent to Aspiration

Sharon Sanjana’s journey is a testament to resilience and ambition. After losing her father at 15, her family faced severe financial difficulties. Despite these challenges, Sharon’s academic excellence shone through, scoring 81% in her 10th board exams. With her mother struggling to make ends meet, the Samarthanam Trust stepped in, providing the much-needed scholarship support for her higher education. Now, as she pursues her Second Year PUC, Sharon’s dreams are within reach. A beacon of talent and determination, she aspires to harness her potential and achieve her goal of becoming a Software Engineer.

Deeksha's Pursuit of a Voice

Deeksha Kumari’s story is one of unwavering determination. Born into a financially strained family in Bangalore, Deeksha and her siblings, all of whom are speech and hearing impaired, faced immense challenges. Despite these obstacles, Deeksha pursued her education with remarkable tenacity, completing her intermediate course with notable success. Now, as she embarks on her B.Com journey, her dreams are fueled by the support from Samarthanam’s scholarship program. Deeksha aspires to leverage this opportunity to realize her ambition of becoming a Bank Manager, a goal she pursues with gratitude and hope.

HEP Budget Allocation

The HEP’s budget underscores our commitment to transparency and the empowerment of 175 aspiring students through carefully allocated resources and scholarships.

Program Outcomes

The HEP not only empowers girls with disabilities but also sensitizes communities and colleges to the potential and independence of these determined scholars, drastically reducing the financial burden on their families.
